It is now easier than ever to pay for your Ashby Knight tutoring sessions.

A warm welcome to Ashby Knight

Ashby Knight provides personalised tuition for children from 4 to 18 years. We offer exceptional study programmes in Maths, English & Science tailored to meet the individual needs of your child, whatever their ability or aspirations. We provide tuition for all students giving them the opportunity to increase their confidence and reach their full academic potential, whether that may be a short-term boost in a specific subject, or to focus on the necessary skills to ensure exam success at every level.

Ashby Knight Tuition are now accepting Tax Free Childcare and Universal Credit for our Private Tutoring!

At Ashby Knight Tuition we understand that paying the fees for your child’s tuition is not always easy. Ashby Knight Tuition is registered with Ofsted on the Voluntary Childcare Register. Being registered with Ofsted offers you peace of mind on quality and standards issues such as Health and Safety and Child Protection Procedures. We hold certificates in Paediatric 1st Aid with all staff having an enhanced DBS (formally CRB) check.

Being Ofsted registered also means that many families are able to receive financial support with their tuition costs. There are different types of support you may qualify for to receive discount for tuition fees.

You can pay with any existing Childcare Voucher Scheme you are enrolled in with your Employer, or the new government Tax-Free Childcare Scheme if you are not in receipt of any benefits such as Universal Credit or Tax Credits.

You can also pay with Tax Credits, or the newly rolled out Universal Credit.

Summary of benefits available

We have summarised our understanding of the various benefits available which may change from time to time. We advise to check with the official government website for up-to-date information.

  • Tax Free Childcare – 20% off tuition sessions
  • Universal Credit – Up to 85% off tuition
  • Childcare Vouchers – Salary sacrifice of up to £55 per week
  • Tax Credits – Up to 70% off tuition

Working Tax Credits

  • For children aged 0-15 or 16 if disabled
  • Paid directly to parents
  • Up to 70% off our tuition

If you receive working tax credits, you may be able to claim as much as 70% of your tuition fee. For high quality tuition by our qualified teachers in a professionally equipped tuition centre, this is a very affordable benefit for your child!

Tax Credits are paid directly to you and your direct debit with us will come out of your account like our standard membership.

You will need to provide them with the monthly cost of your tuition and the date you will start. They will then work out the weekly cost you will need, and they will put this money into your account each week.

You may qualify for Tax Credit if:

  • You’re a single parent and working over 16 hours per week.
  • A couple where both parents are working over 30 hours combined per week.

How to claim with Working Tax Credits:

To make a claim for the childcare element of your working tax credit call the Tax Credit Helpline on 0345 300 3900 and quote our registration number: 2575505 or visit https://www.gov.uk/childcare-costs-for-tax-credits

Tax Free Childcare

The Government-backed Tax-Free Childcare scheme essentially gives eligible families 20% off childcare costs including our tuition sessions. You open an online Tax-Free Childcare account, and the Government adds 20p for every 80p you pay in. You then pay us from that account.

If you’re eligible, you’ll need to create an online childcare account via the Government Tax-Free Childcare site. It should take about 20 minutes to set up, and to do this you’ll need your national insurance number to hand (you’ll also need your unique taxpayer reference if you’re self-employed).

You may qualify for Tax Free Childcare if:

  • Work 16+ hours a week
  • Your child must be 11 or younger
  • The scheme is available to ALL eligible workers including the self-employed
  • Earn under £100,000 per year (per parent)
  • Can’t be claimed with any other schemes
  • Both partners in the household must be working & you’ll need to earn at least £131 a week

How to claim Tax Free Childcare:

You will need to create an online childcare account via the Government Tax-Free Childcare website at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-tax-free-childcare or alternatively call the childcare Service helpline on 0300 123 4097.

Universal Credit

If you receive Universal Credit, the amount you can claim back rises to 85%. These are huge savings for high quality tuition by our qualified teachers!

You may qualify if:

  • You’re on a low income or out of work
  • Your child is under 16 years of age
  • You’re under State Pension age (or your partner is)
  • You and your partner have £16,000 or less in savings between you
  • Can’t be claimed alongside Tax Credits

This is paid direct to you, as long as you (or your partner) are working or are due to start work. You can claim up to 85% towards the cost of your childcare bill including our tuition sessions, as long as the child remains in education until they are 18. The maximum amount you can claim back each month is £646 for one child or £1108 for two or more children.

How to claim with Universal Credit:

To make a claim with the universal credit call the Universal Credit Helpline on 0345 600 0723 or visit https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/universal-credit.

Childcare Vouchers

Now closed to new applicants however those already in a scheme with employers can continue to pay with them.

The Childcare Voucher amount you choose to deduct is taken off your salary before you pay tax and National Insurance. Therefore, you pay less tax and National Insurance as your pre-tax salary is reduced.

Many people qualify for Childcare Vouchers and don’t even know it. Usually parents only use CCV for children in nursery school but the great thing is that at Ashby Knight, you can use them for children of all ages.

How do Childcare Vouchers Work?

  • Your Employer needs to offer the vouchers
  • You complete an agreement with your employer requesting childcare vouchers and they order the value you have requested
  • Electronic Childcare Vouchers are credited to your online account by your employer, usually on the same day you get paid.

How to apply:

To find out if you are eligible speak to your HR department – regardless of the size of your company, it is a scheme that all employers can register for. So even if you’re unsure, it’s definitely worth looking into.
